A Ukulele Starter for the Internet Savvy.

Made by a novice.

This is addressing an anon from the past. So a long, long time ago [ as in a year or so ] an anon asked me where I found my ukulele chords and tabs and stuff like that. Sadly, I put off answering it because I wanted to do it ~right, and then it got lost in the labyrinth that was/still is my inbox. So many apologies, anon, and I hope you may have the chance of seeing this post.

EQUIPMENT → [ the ukulele I play ] It’s not a top tier ukulele, but it was my first one and I wanted to be sure it was something I wanted to invest in. I’m no expert, but I enjoy its sound and it has decent strings on it.

TUNING → [ online tuner ] Okay, so be forewarned that when you get a new ukulele you will have to tune it often while you’re breaking it in and it’s annoying as hell. I’m talking, you play for a couple minutes and it will start to sound wonky, but be patient, the strings will break in eventually. To help, you should also tighten the screws on the tuning pegs. So when tuning, drop to a pitch below the not that slowly tighten up to the tone. Also, the notes for the strings [ moving from closest to your head down ] will be G, C, E and A for most songs.

GETTING SONGSukulelehunt [ also has super helpful information about all things ukulele ]  /  ukulele-tabs [ not everything is accurate, but there’s a lot of stuff and usually multiple options for how to play something ]  /  chordie [ you can change the key of the chords on the side to ukulele tuning ] /  ultimate-guitar [ I don’t know if it’s ~okay to just play guitar tabs on a ukulele without changing the key, but sometimes I just do it anyway ]

Also, Youtube videos can be a big help sometimes, but not all the time. And don’t count on them. Sometimes they blow.
